Some time back, movie gossip sites like Ain’t It Cool News got hold of a supposed promotional flier for the Red Dwarf movie. As the plot summary seemed so divorced from the premise of the much-beloved show, and there were some errors in the way it was written, fans mused that it must be a hoax. Turns out it was real…and the Red Dwarf web site has confirmed that the flier is summarizing the specific plot of the movie. (In other words, the TV show is not negated; this is a continuing adventure, in the same way that “Wrath of Khan” continued the old series.)
The basic plot summary (I suppose this is a spoiler, albeit a vague one, so if you want to go in cold don’t read any further):
We finally find out what happened to Earth in the movie. Mankind has evolved into a new species…and they are violently wiping out the remaining human beings that they can find, ending with David Lister and Christine Kochanski of the Red Dwarf.
I am so hoping that this movie comes to fruition.
