Growing up in Iran: The Comic Book

I’d like to thank the Minnesota Comic Book Association‘s newsletter for informing me of this news story about an intriguing new independent comic book.

“Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood” is a memoir of growing up as a young girl during the Islamic revolution in Iran (which followed the overthrow of the Shah, a western-leaning dictator). While giving an insight into the society of Iran, it’s mainly about the girl and her family as they find small ways to deal with the laws of the oppressive regime.

I should add that this article about the comic is well-written, especially considering that the journalist is only 17! It makes me want to buy this book, and I’ve set up a link for anyone else who is also so inclined.
