The world’s tallest building has been built in Taiwan.

I have to admit…this is one very beautiful structure. Too many modern structures aim only for height. It’s not nice to say this these days, but the World Trade Center towers were very aesthetically-displeasing buildings that seemed geared only for achieving a certain number of stories off of the pavement.

Of course, the main function of these buildings is to exist as an achievement and to expand ourselves architecturally. There isn’t a tremendous need for dangerously-high skyscrapers. So many of the occupants of the World Trade Center could have fulfilled the same function operating from a nondescript phone bank in Des Moines. Even in crowded Taiwan, this building is probably not so much vital as it is a claim to fame.

Congratulations, Taiwan!
