Garfield not by Jim Davis?

Turns out that Garfield isn’t drawn by Jim Davis, but by his employees while he does the marketing.

Okay, not the biggest deal in the world. After all, the character models are pretty easy. I guess all of those early 1980s “How to Draw Garfield” pages were just Davis’ attempt to find some fill-in artists.

Still, it’s irksome that the actual artists aren’t getting the credit. In that respect, syndicated comics have a long way to go in catching up with comic books.

Slate.com also reveals that Garfield brings in almost a billion dollars a year!
