MD Site Improvements

Posted on September 22, 2003 by thehutch

Posted on September 19, 2003 by thehutch

Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center has a syndicated column out today about JLA #83, the political commentary issue where Superman has a bad dream about President Luthor attacking Qurac: Superheroes for saving Saddam? Visitors new to the site should search through our archives for our own previous links and commentary, including a link…

70s Treasure Trove!

Posted on September 18, 2003 by thehutch

DeeT’s 70s Page is overflowing with clips of long-lost stuff from The Seventies, including old TV shows and PSA’s like Time for Timer (where Timer shows how to make sunshine on a stick using pomegranite juice, cling wrap, ice cube trays and toothpicks). Thanks to Jonah Goldberg for the link!

A real life superher – well, guy dressed in costume!

Posted on September 18, 2003 by thehutch

Angle-Grinder Man cuts the clamps off of “innocent” citizens’ parked cars. Superhero? Supervillain? Trouble-maker in a goofy costume? You decide.

Silver Age Bat-minis

Posted on September 18, 2003 by thehutch

Kubricks are the miniature Legoman-like figures popularized in Japan which inspired DC Direct’s miniature figures. Medicom’s new Kubrick Batman set, Series 1 features a modern Batman and Robin, classic Batgirl, modern Scarecrow and blue metal Mr. Freeze. PLUS there is an unpictured chase figure, The Spoiler, who has never had an action figure before!  …

Only 200,000?

Posted on September 18, 2003 by thehutch

The big news is that JLA/Avengers #1 Breaks 200,000. Am I the only one who finds that figure incredibly low for a 20-year-in-the-making event that should be drawing comic fans old and new from both DC and Marvel readers and the mildly curious? A Batman comic book once sold a million issues back in the…

Hulk DVD includes XBox Hulk Game

Posted on September 18, 2003 by thehutch

I don’t know whether to file this under “Movies”, “Marvel” or “Toys and Games”! For the first time, a movie will be packaged with the videogame of the movie. Well, you know that’s too good to be true. It’s actually one playable level of the Xbox Hulk game.

El Cazador #1 Sold Out!

Posted on September 18, 2003 by thehutch

Congratulations to Chuck Dixon, Steve Epting and Frank D’Armeta! El Cazador #1 is sold out, despite being overprinted and in addition to the 25% extra copies that retailers got (when they hit their incentive level)! That’s astounding, and proof that an audience exists for straightforward genre comics devoid of superheroes and sigil-bearers. Now, is that…
