CORRECTION

Posted on June 18, 2004 by thehutch

The I-Con in Des Moines, Iowa is Sunday June 27th, not this weekend. (I just got my internal calendar wrong.) I’d originally written in this post that I would be going there this weekend. That gives you all a week to plan and be at I-Con. Scott McCullar, Erik Burnham and I will be there.

Adult Swim on DVD

Posted on June 16, 2004 by thehutch

TVShowsOnDVD.com has the news (broken on Adult Swim during a show bumper this last weekend) that Sealab 2021, The Brak Show, Space Ghost Coast To Coast, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law and the Venture Bros. will all have DVD box sets released over the next year. One nice thing about these…

MORE BUFFY!

Posted on June 16, 2004 by thehutch

TV Guide has the scoop that Buffy is not over, because there will now be an Animated Buffy the Vampire Slayer! As this site rotates the news at that link every day, I will repost it here, but I want to properly attribute it to Michael Ausiello’s Entertainment News on the TV Guide web site….

Map of Springfield

Posted on June 16, 2004 by thehutch

I think the Map of Springfield is a pointless endeavor, in that this map is constantly contradicted in other episodes.

Garfield not by Jim Davis?

Posted on June 16, 2004 by thehutch

Turns out that Garfield isn’t drawn by Jim Davis, but by his employees while he does the marketing. Okay, not the biggest deal in the world. After all, the character models are pretty easy. I guess all of those early 1980s “How to Draw Garfield” pages were just Davis’ attempt to find some fill-in artists….

Value in protesting?

Posted on June 15, 2004 by thehutch

A pressure group is trying to get theaters to refuse to show Fahrenheit 9/11. I think it’s a bad idea, as most gadflies thrive on the attention of protestors. It’s worth debating. Is there a connection between attention and sales? Consider Al Franken. In the mid-90s he published “Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Liar,”…

John Wells works on another DC book!

Posted on June 15, 2004 by thehutch

Bob Greenberger invited John Wells to nominate appropriate stories for a new Batman collection, Batman in the 80s, and then he was invited to contribute introductory text. The stories selected seem to be originalchoices, in that they avoid all the noteworthy stories while providing a good example of style and storytelling of the era.

Tripping the Rift – The TV Show

Posted on June 15, 2004 by thehutch

Tripping the Rift started out as an off-color adult cartoon short and it’s now a late night TV series on the Sci-Fi Channel. I haven’t seen an episode yet, so I can’t tell you how it compares to the original, though there’s no way it could include the language and nudity of the short. However,…
