Posted on May 28, 2004 by thehutch

It sure seems as though the new trailer for Anchorman gives away the entire plot from beginning to end, including the finale. (He gets off the island but finds Helen Hunt married someone else.)

When did we start finding all these planets?

Posted on May 27, 2004 by thehutch

According to this article on a new planet found by the Spitzer Space telescope, scientists have found 100 planets in other solar systems. We have? When did this happen? Why wasn’t this major news when this all started? I didn’t even know we HAD a Spitzer Space Telescope!

Scott McCloud and Scott Kurtz have been talking about a new micropayment system called BitPass, and I thought y’all might be in this Wired article on the subject.

Flounder no more

Posted on May 26, 2004 by thehutch

A few days ago I pondered if Stephen Furst was doing the ads for Hi-C Sour Blast. No one has yet e-mailed me to answer “yes” or “no”, so I’m still thinking it’s him. But it is odd to think of Furst promoting a sugary concoction to kids, given that he’s now a spokesman for…

Box sets changing economics

Posted on May 26, 2004 by thehutch

Jerry Doyle brings up a great point while discussing J. Michael Straczynski’s new Babylon 5 Follow-Up: Doyle says that interest in a new series is driven by brisk sales of the Babylon 5 DVD sets, the first three seasons of which have already been released. “We shot the first season for somewhere around $950,000 an…

This just in: Generalissimo Andy Kaufman is still dead

Posted on May 25, 2004 by thehutch

Snopes.com has already addressed this hoax. Basically: PRWeb will put out any public release, even fake ones…and Yahoo for some reason ran with this as a real story.

Fox Reviewer Bashes Fox Flick

Posted on May 25, 2004 by thehutch

Well, anyone who frets that corporate ownership of news organizations controls their news and opinion can take some solace in Roger Friedman’s out and out pimp-slap at his own company’s $200 million dollar flop-to-be, The Day After Tomorrow: Hilariously awful in most places, with an incoherent script and questionable acting, “Day After” will come on…

Online sneek peak at Beau Smith’s “Pretty Tough

Posted on May 24, 2004 by thehutch

Beau Smith is giving his online column’s regular readers a glimpse of his superstrong agent character, Pretty Tough. (Gotta admit, that’s one of the best adverb supercharacter names I’ve heard, right up there with Major Disaster…and so obvious it’s surprising it hasn’t been taken!) Joe Bob says check it out.
