Kansasapoppin!

Posted on May 18, 2004 by thehutch

This would be a good month to be in the Kansas City area. Greg Evans of Luann will be doing a book signing at Barnes and Noble on May 27th. And now Scott Kurtz of PvP and Aaron Williams (of Nodwick and the great PS238) will be signing at Pop Culture Comics on May 29th.

Neundorf’s latest

Posted on May 18, 2004 by thehutch

Inkplosion is now highlighting the latest work of Philipp S. Neundorf, called “DCLXVI.” It’s very Vertigo-ish, full of mature content, so be warned. Phil’s European, so the women are almost always naked…and you get to see a couple having sex to a George Bush speech. (Well, if you hadn’t clicked the link already, I bet…

Adult Swim doesn’t even know their own schedule!

Posted on May 17, 2004 by thehutch

Bah! I’d like to apologize to everyone I unwittingly misinformed last night. Despite what it says on Adult Swim’s own online TV listings, last night’s episode of “Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law” WAS the Jetsons’ episode “Back to the Present”. J. Morgan Neal informed me of this, and I’m sorry to anyone who missed it…

Posted on May 17, 2004 by thehutch

Grimjack’s legal mess has been de-messed and now the John Ostrander/Tim Truman character may return. A new publication deal should be announced soon.

Birdman – schedule correction

Posted on May 16, 2004 by thehutch

I was wrong. Tonight’s episode of Harvey Birdman is “Blackwatch Plaid”, and next week’s episode is the Jetsons episode (click to watch a preview clip).

Fun site

Posted on May 16, 2004 by thehutch

I have always been a big fan of voiceover artists, particularly Stan Freberg, Daws Butler and June Foray. I even tried to get into the industry and once sent in a demo tape to try out for the voice of the genie in Disney’s “Aladdin” TV show. (The demo tape was horrible, they were better…

I should be packing my suitcase

Posted on May 14, 2004 by thehutch

Just saw the news item about CrossGen canceling Sojourn, one of their best-selling books. Allegedly this is due to “sales being low”, but considering it’s one of their best-sellers it’s far more likely that they have been caught off-guard with no one to work on it after writer Ian Edgington and penciller Greg Land (the…

It’s almost the 15th!

Posted on May 14, 2004 by thehutch

It’s almost May 15th, which is important for two reasons. One of them concerns the past, the other the future. The past, because five years ago I married Melinda…and then we left the chapel to get in line for “Phantom Menace.” JUST kidding. (Boy, that would have to be the world’s biggest letdown of a…

Fair’s Fair!

Posted on May 13, 2004 by thehutch

Allah Pundit can do cheap photoshop attacks too! Okay, I’ll be honest: what always bugged me about Micah Wright was not really his politics. Oh sure, that bugged me…but about as much as a guy selling Marxist books at a San Fran rally. I mean, that’s irritating but it’s not making much of a dent…

Listen to the Wilhelm!

Posted on May 13, 2004 by thehutch

On the Media has a piece on the Wilhelm scream. Frankly, I wish I’d never learned of this, because now I hear it everywhere. It’s in EVERY movie, even Lord of the Rings! It’s as ubiquitous as the Simpsons Snowball II cat shriek sound effect, which I’ve since heard so many times that I’m guessing…
