Tribute Entertainment Sues Marvel

Posted on November 3, 2003 by thehutch

The X-Men vs. Mutant X lawsuit, which was settled earlier, has led to a new lawsuit. For those late to the whole controversy, ICv2 does a good job of summarizing it. When 20th Century Fox licensed X-Men for its movies, they were riled that they thought they had the only X-Men property in other media…

More publicity for our own Eric Spratling

Posted on November 3, 2003 by thehutch

Oh, as if Eric’s ego wasn’t swelling enough last week when he was quoted in City Journal and mentioned on Andrew Sullivan’s web site…now that same piece is on the Wall Street Journal’s web site and Front Page Magazine. There’s just going to be no living with the guy now. Meanwhile, I want all of…

Now clear your head

Posted on November 2, 2003 by thehutch

Relax, folks. That’s why I invited Ian Pattinson; to get a diverse viewpoint. Indeed, I hope Ian will post more often, to more news about independent comics that I might overlook…and not just to link to the insane Michael Moore (the guy who was fired from Mother Jones for, of all things, being too much…

This sounds like an anime story!

Posted on October 31, 2003 by thehutch

Twenty girls in school uniforms chased down a pervert and beat him up. Of course, it was probably a fantasy come true for him.

Revolutions Makes No Sense But Looks Great

Posted on October 31, 2003 by thehutch

It sounds like the conclusion of the Matrix Trilogy will make no more sense than the first one. ‘Matrix Revolutions’: First Look I was so disappointed in ‘Reloaded’ that I vowed not to see the conclusion until it hits the second run theater.

ALIEN vs. PREDATOR movie!

Posted on October 31, 2003 by thehutch

Alien vs. Predator will hit screens August 6 of 2004! Wow. First Freddy vs. Jason, and now this. It’s like some rich geek suddenly ponied up the dough to finance every fanboy dream picture of the last decade. (GATES? Is that you?) You can download the teaser trailer, although it’s rather vague and probably is…

IDW’s “The Bible: Eden

Posted on October 31, 2003 by thehutch

IDW is doing a book called The Bible: Eden. Keith Giffen is one of the writers, and it collects stories previously run in…Penthouse??? The book is for mature readers and contains nudity. Naturally, this could be the case for any straightforward Bible adaptation, but given that it’s from Penthouse… Has anyone seen this (that will…

OPERATION “GET MICHAEL TO WATCH CNBC

Posted on October 31, 2003 by thehutch

CNBC has hired Dennis Miller to host a prime time television show four nights a week. This AP article does something that really bugs me. It says that He bashed anti-war activists on a “Tonight” show appearance last spring, calling filmmaker Michael Moore a “stupid moron” for criticizing President Bush at the Academy Awards. Now,…

Snap to it!

Posted on October 31, 2003 by thehutch

Jeez…I hate those days when I get too busy and no one else is posting. I hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t any Monitor Duty news until late last night. My apologies. I’ll try to make up for it today. Maybe all of our contributors need something like Yoder’s “Corner Kittens” which force you to post…
