Is this the same Tony Moore?

Posted on April 24, 2003 by thehutch

4-Color Review has an interview with Tony Moore [NOTE: Lots of profanity in the interview.] Tony is the artist on Battle Pope. And the name hits me: Tony Moore. Back in 1998, a Tony Moore submitted some artwork for Fanzing.com and we ran it in issue #3. One was of Lobo, the other of the…

Posted on April 24, 2003 by thehutch

Rob Ricochet sent me an AIM note: Just to let you know that I now use Monitor Duty as my homepage. It’s great as a ‘hub’ of sorts for all my regular sites. You just need to add popcultureshock.com onto the front. Thanks for the kind note, Rob! We hope to become the homepage for…

Making Sense of Hawkman History

Posted on April 24, 2003 by thehutch

Geoff Johns talks about Hawkman over at Newsarama. It’s a great interview, IMHO. Johns discusses continuity, revamps, and whether it’s better to deal with or ignore the horrible Hawkman history mess.

I’ll take Nic Juzda to block

Posted on April 23, 2003 by thehutch

Nicolas Juzda has a quibble with yesterday’s announcement about the NEVER MIND – THIS LINK IS DEAD –Marvel solicitations. Seems Thor reached #500 years ago…BUT the book did not become Thor until issue #83, whereas the Fantastic Four debuted in FF #1. Is this a nit or a major dispute? Why not weigh in?

Posted on April 22, 2003 by thehutch

Is it okay to talk politics if a comic gets political? In the solicitations for July, we have JLA 83. Here is how DC solicits it: President Luthor has Qurac on his hit list, and heaven help any hero who stands in the way. Now Superman finds himself in a living nightmare as his fellow…

Slow month for DC Direct

Posted on April 22, 2003 by thehutch

I just can’t find any excitement for July’sDC Direct stuff. I don’t collect statues (the Hal Jordan GL statue…I can’t believe it wasn’t out by now). Although I must say one thing for the Superfriends figure sets: this is about the only way to get a Scarecrow that looks the way Neal Adams used to…

Posted on April 22, 2003 by thehutch
