  • Buckley new publisher of Marvel

When I saw the headline Marvel Announces Buckley as Publisher, I thought perhaps William F. Buckley had a new gig. But it’s another guy named Dan Buckley, who is a buddy of Joe Quesada. (A buddy? Uh oh.)

  • Epic indeed closed to submissions

Epic is not taking any more submissions and they’ve reportedly removed the information from their web site. It sounds like Marc Campbell’s “Northwoods Saga” is still a go project. That’s cool. (Go Marc!)

  • COOL NEWS: Jemas out!!!

Ladies and gentlemen…mostly gentlemen, I know, but more and more females getting into comics all the time…I started Monitor Duty just so I could point you all to the big comic book news stories as they broke. The Matt Drudge of comics news, that’s me. Here’s a doozie: NEWSARAMA – JEMAS OUT OF MARVEL BY…

  • On the Captain America suit

I mean lawsuit, not the awesome-looking costume (well, I think it looks awesome; others disagree). Hopefully Joe Simon got a satisfyingly hefty amount just in time to add it to his family’s inheritance. (It is really a shame he didn’t win…

  • Marvel A.C.T.O.R. book

Before you check out of your comic shop this December, I hope you’ll add one more book to the pile of duplicate copies of Job Wanted that you hopefully asked them to carry. The new Iron Man writer has some interesting ideas on both modernizing Iron Man and getting him back to his roots by exploring the arms manufacturer in the new age of smart weapons. I’ve never read Iron Man, but this sounds very intriguing, especially the complex political situations. Meanwhile, many of the Iron Man fans…

  • Bruce Campbell on Spidey 2

Bruce Campbell, the ring announcer in the first Spider-Man film and a “snooty usher” in the second, is confirming that star Tobey Maguire is fit enough to play Spider-Man in the sequel.

  • Only 200,000?

The big news is that JLA/Avengers #1 Breaks 200,000. Am I the only one who finds that figure incredibly low for a 20-year-in-the-making event that should be drawing comic fans old and new from both DC and Marvel readers and the mildly curious? A Batman comic book once sold a million issues back in the…
