• Bill Murray, lasagne and Odie!

According to Variety and Comics2Film, the upcoming Garfield movie will have Bill Murray as the voice of Garfield. Apparently, Garfield the cat will be CGI, as will probably be Odie and any other animal characters. I need to point out a cool bit of synchronicity here: the voice of Garfield until now was the late,…

  • Those aren’t mortal wounds?

Comics Continuum has an interview with Hugh Jackman which discusses the fan feedback on the first movie that prompted the sequel to feature a more raging Wolverine. However, in an Entertainment Weekly interview (Entertainment Weekly #709, pg 26), Hugh Jackman claims that Wolverine doesn’t go for mortal wounds even when in a berserker rage in…

  • Another funny web comic

Like a lot of web comics, Day by Day by Chris Muir seems to owe a lot to Doonesbury and Bloom County in terms of style (if not worldview), but it’s a funny little strip and it has a great look of its own. I’m bookmarking this one right after PvP.

  • Teen Clark Kent and Smallville

TV Guide Insider interviews Smallville’s Al Gough about whether Clark Kent will be “hitting the sheets” with Lana Lang. Gough seems to be sensible about it, but the TV Guide interviewer’s take on teen sex as mandatory (and zero discussion about Clark Kent/Superman as role model) is rather disappointing.

  • No X2 Review Yet

Do not question the X-Men lovers. Do not question the X-Men universe. Thou shalt bow down to Singer! I haven’t reviewed X2 yet, and I’m not sure that I can without bringing down the fury of comicdom’s most legion cult. If you’re not ready to shout that the movie is the best superhero film ever…

  • Marvel: We’re Doing Very Well

FOXNews.com reports that Marvel has posted a first-quarter profit and seen its stock rise 11%. Licensing revenue has jumped fivefold due to the Spider-Man, X-Men and Daredevil franchises. Is it any wonder that Marvel seems to have a fire under its collective bottom about getting good movies made for so many of its characters? This…

  • Indiana Jones on DVD!

Make a reservation in your pocketbook in November for The Adventures of Indiana Jones: The Complete DVD Movie Collection Finally! Only one problem: no commentary tracks! When is Spielberg going to join the DVD revolution?

  • Looking over last month’s figures

Today I’m perusing the Top 300 Comics for March 2003. As always, the top 10 comics are Marvel, mostly X-Men…but oddly enough, Batman is outselling them all at #1 with 23,000 more copies. And JLA, even today’s team written by Joe Kelly, is doing quite well at #11. Still…it’s shocking to see the comics considered…
