Posted on August 27, 2005 by thehutch

Batman 644 reveals the real killer of Stephanie Brown (Robin nee Spoiler). It turns out it was Dr. Leslie Thompkins, who killed her just to try to send Batman a message. Remembering Jim Aparo

Posted on July 20, 2005 by thehutch

As I read more and more memorials to Jim Aparo, I’m reminded of some of my favorite stories that featured his art. That cover of Batman hanging from Elongated Man’s neck? That was his! He also did one of the greatest Metal Men stories ever, the immortal “Whatever Happened to Whatsername?”

Definitive Batman artist Jim Aparo dies

Posted on July 19, 2005 by thehutch

Ethan Van Sciver reports that Jim Aparo has passed away. I didn’t even realize Aparo was that old. Aparo was THE Batman artist for me and a generation of Bat-fans, especially readers of “The Brave and the Bold”, and IMHO he established the definitive look for Commissioner Gordon. Farewell, Mr. Aparo. R.I.P.

San Diego Comicon: DC Panel

Posted on July 17, 2005 by thehutch

Instead of magic there will be “something different”. The Red Hood will appear in Teen Titans, where Tim Drake…

Christopher Priest underappreciates himself

Posted on June 25, 2005 by thehutch

Christopher Priest blogs that he invented the whole “Bruce Wayne goes to Tibet to learn martial arts” thing and he’s happy to see it in the movie even though he’s sure DC would never acknowledge this. Little does he know that DC released a new Batman Begins Trade Paperback which contains Scott Beatty’s movie adaptation…
