Review: “Green Lantern: Emerald Knights”

Posted on June 13, 2011 by thehutch

Is Emerald Knights an amazing movie that I will watch many, many times?  No. First off, I always remind myself that this is an amazing age that I live in, where more and more of the comic book characters I loved as a kid are being turned into movies and TV shows and cartoons than…

My Father’s Day Gifts to Myself

Posted on June 11, 2011 by thehutch

Amazon package arrived today.  Guess what’s inside? The animated Legion of Super-Heroes Vol. 1-3, which is now packaged together for $17 instead of sold individually for $15 each.  (I don’t know why they won’t do season sets anymore.  Obviously, they want to shake us down for more cash per individual disk, but I’m not buying…

Posted on June 10, 2011 by thehutch

Okay, this is kind of a cheat on my part in order to hit my “post every day in June” vow.  A list of the total rollout. An Updatable List Of The 52 DC Titles For September I’ll have more detailed reactions, but for now I’m holding my tongue.  The world doesn’t need one more…

Super-Paranoid, I guess

Posted on June 9, 2011 by thehutch

Perhaps it’s just me, but I have a hard time letting go of my skepticism regarding some issues when I’m reading a comic book. The whole secret identity thing is getting a bit impossible to believe.  It used to be that the only people snapping Superman’s picture were Jimmy Olsen and the ubiquitous Japanese tourist,…

Deadlines indeed!

Posted on June 8, 2011 by thehutch

DC Comics has warned all of their freelance creators that they must have three issues ready of the newly relaunched titles by August 31st.  Comicsbeat has more, including talkback comments by Cully Hammer and Kurt Busiek! Prediction: by issue #3, artists may be taking a cue from Keith Giffen and get some in-family assistance in…

Reactions to the whole DC “New #1s” thing

Posted on June 4, 2011 by thehutch

Here are some reactions by comic pros and fans to DC’s announcement that their entire line of comic books would be starting over with new #1 issues.  I’ll have a few thoughts of my own as well at the end. Lore Sjoberg tweeted what is probably the most concise summary of how comic book reboots…

DC Comics unleashes a new universe of superhero titles

Posted on June 1, 2011 by thehutch

And it’s not like I couldn’t go for one.  Considering how every few years all of the stories I cared about…

Green Lantern Extended trailer

Posted on April 3, 2011 by thehutch

A four minute trailer for “Green Lantern” was recently shown at WonderCon.  Enjoy! I’m torn.
