Daily Box Office – Wednesday, December 14, 2005 shows a pretty poor showing for King Kong. Drudge Report is already hyping that it may be a bomb.
Frankly, I run a geek news blog and I didn’t know until two days ago that it was opening on a Wednesday. Maybe that’s the problem? I bet business picks up this weekend.

I saw the Drudge piece and thought it a bit overblown as a headline.
Perhaps many had second thoughts at seeing a 3hr movie on a Wednesday.
I saw it last night at 6:05 pm and the theater was half empty. The lineups looked pretty long when I got out.
My 4 sons thought it was amazing. My wife found it dull.
I thought it was amazing. I was at time coiling myself into the seat, other times on the verge of tears.
Like the Godfather being one of the few movies to have a good sequel, this is the exception to the rule that a remake cannot equal the original.
I cannot believe that there will not be some virulent word of mouth on this movie.
Great idea to open the movie on a Wednesday and take advantage of any early box office to be the Number One movie on Monday. But wouldn’t NEXT Wednesday have been a better idea?
Kong opened Wednesday with a midnight showing.
Wouldn’t that have worked better closer to Christmas?
Waiting for the weekend to take my kids.
