Did DC Direct just spoil the ending of Infinite Crisis?

Reader Don Smith just e-mailed me regarding one of the toys recently unveiled by DC Direct, and oddly enough he asked me a question that I had asked myself when I first saw it yesterday. At first, I wasn’t going to post about it because I thought it was just my imagination, but Don’s message confirms my impression.

It seems that DC Direct may have given away a MAJOR part of Infinite Crisis, which still has three issues left to go.

I don’t want to say any more without putting this in the extended entry, because it concerns the reveal of the figure and a major guesstimate as to what happens in the next few months. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.

DO NOT CLICK ON THIS UNLESS YOU WANT TO RUIN A SURPRISE AND POSSIBLY A PIVOTAL PART OF INFINITE CRISIS!!!

Oh, and NO THIS ISN’T A JOKE.

THERE’S ALSO A MONSTER IN THE EXTENDED ENTRY AND GROVER DOESN’T WANT YOU TO TURN THE PAGE!

DON’T DO THAT!!!!!

Oh, dear, I asked you not to turn the page and you turned it.

I’m so scared.

Here goes:

When we last saw Superboy of Earth-Prime, he was killing several of the Teen Titans and the Flashes decided to get rid of him in the only inescapable prison open to them: the Speed Force. The speedsters in the Speed Force grabbed him and that SHOULD be the last we see of the character. After all, the Speed Force is that which is inescapable.

So DC Direct offers their “Infinite Crisis Series One” characters, and here is the design for Superboy Prime:

Isn’t that the Anti-Monitor’s armor? Add to that the black S and the pallid look, and it’s clear that Superboy of Earth-Prime must return later in the series, probably as the primary villain.

Now, here’s another thing we might ask ourselves:

If Superboy can escape the Speed Force, could Barry Allen return too? Right now, people at DC are being glib that there will be “a Flash” but they’re not saying who.

  1. Hang on… i believe that isn’t the case.. i think barry allen will be back as Flash but some how changed .. that is faster.. and the speed force will be inside his body.. as for Super boy Prime, i think that we will definitely see him in issue 7. Also there is an ongoing debate that as seen in Action comics 836 i think, Kal-el Vs Kal-L will change history so that superman (ours) never died during his battle with Doomsday..

  2. Just goes to show: DC can’t leave things well enough alone unless it can help turn up a profit for them. Some things in the past should be left in the past.
