A good review for the Middlers

Issue #475 of Comic Book Network has a positive review of the story I wrote (and Phil Meadows illustrated) for Shooting Star Comics Anthology #4, and gives the book overall a solid review. You can read issue 475 as a downloadable text file.

Here is the review of our story.

My favorite of the volume is “Melvin and Marvin Middler, Time Meddlers.” It is a classic science fiction plot. If you could travel back in time what would you do? In this case the guys are in it for the money so the first thing they do is buy a box of copies of ACTION COMICS #1 “under the table” from a distributor’s truck driver and tell him to be on the lookout for a comic book with a bat on the cover. Well, what would you do? But Melvin has a bigger scheme that will make them billionaires and still stay under the radar of the time cops. He takes them back to 1590 London to give a gift to a certain playwright. They offer the bard a computer with its own generator for power that can even print scripts in his own handwriting. All he has to do is sign over the rights to them upon his death and never tell anyone. I cracked up when they offered proof they are from the future by showing a STAR TREK collector’s plate! They make the rounds to the Titanic and even the time of Christ. What they learn in the end is a good lesson. The art here is the best of the issue, in my opinion.

I can’t tell you how much I needed to read a good review of my work on a day like today.

Those of you who know me know why I needed the pick-me-up.
