Yeah, you. I’m talking to you.
I’ve got this problem, see. I like DC Comics and CrossGen, and with a few other exceptions (PvP, Supreme, Astro City) that’s about it. I ran a DC comics magazine and visit newsgroups and message boards full of like-minded people. And so far my fellow recruits for Monitor Duty have been drawn from that limited pool.
I know many of you out there would like to read more news about Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, Top Cow and independent books, and I try to bring it to you when I can. However, I’m really not equipped to do so! I don’t know the characters, I don’t know the creators, I don’t know the storylines that others consider hot.
What we need are more Monitor Duty posters with different interests and viewpoints from my own. (Not RADICALLY different, mind you. We’re still a family-friendly comic-centered site, so no Cherry Poptart updates or bizarre off-topic rants about the Jews being behind 9-11. Please.)
If you would like to become a contributor to Monitor Duty, please e-mail me and we will give you a try. All contributors are, it should go without saying, guests on the forum and must follow the established rules of behavior and requirements for posting. In other words, management reserves the right to withdraw the privilege yadda yadda yadda.
If you think you can post news links to other comic books of interest, why not give it a try? You’re welcome to decline later if you decide you’d rather not.
This is open to both fans and pros, I should add….though with pros, we hope you’ll talk about other things in addition to your own projects. Nothing more tiresome than a self-promoter.
That reminds me: the last Job Wanted previews are going up this evening.
[…] that’s where we’re going to stop, even though, as with The Thing, I’ve barely given you the premise as…
