CNBC has hired Dennis Miller to host a prime time television show four nights a week.
This AP article does something that really bugs me. It says that
He bashed anti-war activists on a “Tonight” show appearance last spring, calling filmmaker Michael Moore a “stupid moron” for criticizing President Bush at the Academy Awards.
Now, my problem with this is that Miller is a comedian and both of these things were in the context of very funny jokes. Granted, he’s targeting them for some righteous abuse, but that’s what comedians do. To only quote the two words “stupid moron” from the payoff line of a long setup seems disingenuous. If you haven’t seen that piece, you might think Miller came out and said, “Hey Moore, you’re a stupid moron!”
