Just a reminder that I will be at Wizard World Texas in Arlington to promote Job Wanted. We’re going to have a booth for Shooting Star Comics…that’s right, a booth, not a table in artist’s alley…so be sure to look for us. Joining me will be Scott McCullar, Roz Terrill, John Morgan Neal and Jayme Blaschke.
We’re staying at the Arlington Amerisuites, where we’ll probably stay up late over pizza, talking comics and whatnot. Robert Bavington (the guy who did the Matrix, Legolas and Hulk Fuzzballs for Monitor Duty) is flying over from England to attend, and we know a group of folks from the Dixonverse web site will also be there. It looks to be quite a party, so if you’re planning on attending send me an e-mail or just swing by our booth. We’ll be glad to meet you, sell you an advance copy of Job Wanted and then rifle through your wallet to see how much cash you have left to buy our shirts and tote bags.
One good idea for a convention is to take a backpack or at least a tote bag. Sure, every vendor will give you a plastic bag, but it helps if you have something sturdy to carry them around in (and also recognizably different from everyone else’s identical bags so you don’t take the wrong one by mistake). I’ll have a few tote bags to sell at Wizard World, but you may want to order one now. Melinda and I both have tote bags from Cafe Press and they’ve held up quite well. The only problem you’ll have is that other people will stop you so that they can read the funny list of things you’ve learned from comic books.
I’m excited about this trip. Melinda will be with me, and we’ll be looking for fun stuff to do around the Dallas-Fort Worth area. If anyone has any suggestions, pass them on. It’s a working vacation for us…the first one we’ve had in over two years. Our last vacation was the week of September 11/2001, and I can’t say it was really all that relaxing.
I wonder if we’ll get any frequent flier miles that we can donate to Operation Hero Miles? I don’t really know how frequent flier miles work. I haven’t flown enough in my lifetime to qualify as “frequent.”
[…] that’s where we’re going to stop, even though, as with The Thing, I’ve barely given you the premise as…
