Robert Downey Jr. will play Iron Man.
Not being a Marvel fan and having never read any more Iron Man than a Hostess advertisement, I don’t really have any feelings one way or the other on this. What do you all think?

I’m not a big fan of Downey Jr myself, so I might not be the best guy to ask.
But I always felt that above all Stark is the James Bond of his world– suave, totally in control, lots of ladies. He’s like Tom Swift with a penis.
People make a big deal of the whole alcohism thing and, yeah, I totally see that. But a big part of Iron Man’s charm is Stark’s… well, charm.
I think Kurt Busiek did a real good job balancing the difference aspects of Stark in his run, and that’s the kind of Iron Man I would love to see.
There’s a great debate going on at the Libertarian web site reason.com over the origin of Ironman. They need a referee, anyone around here know a superhero historian who could straighten them out?
Perfect casting. His voice has the gravitas for Iron Man, and his personal history makes him the perfect actor to play Tony Stark, the same way that Adam West was the perfect guy to cast as the voice of the Grey Ghost.
