“Superman Returns” is barely a break-even movie, and it had a LOT of problems and took itself way too seriously with a disturbing plotline where Superman’s courting Lois would be breaking up a family and it’s just not a very enjoyable, fun movie… but they’re going to make another one.

Hopefully, in the sequel, Superman will actually *say something.* He talked enough as Clark Kent, both at the Kent Farm and at the Daily Planet. But as Superman, he’s nearly mute. He just repeats the line from the first movie about flying being statistically safe, talks with Lois about “people crying for help,” says to Luthor “I see an old man’s sick joke,” repeats Jor-El’s lines to a sleeping Jason, and tells Lois “I’m always around.” That’s it.
A few witty rejoinders here and there couldn’t hurt.
Maybe I’m blanking, but what is a “PotC” sequel? Why can’t I think of what the abbreviation means?
OH! Pirates of the Carribean! Came to me just as I was clicking “Post”!
Definatly not the movie I had hoped to see.. Though I did enjoy it. I some how think this movie would have made alot more money for WB if Tim Burton and co. hadnt ****ed around with it for so long.. On top of the fact that Pirates came out the same week… >.
Why would Superman ever have to outgrow this woman? We don’t know her. What is the attraction that he gets over? What makes her so exceptional that he doesn’t go X-ray some Sports Illustrated swimsuit models and the Miss America contestant that drips with idealism.
Mind you, he wasn’t the least bit childish over the whole thing….
