I don’t know that this falls under any category of our usual talk here, but I just feel obliged to warn you all:
IF you are still using iTunes 6.x and iTunes is bugging you to upgrade to iTunes 7.0, don’t. At least not until they fix all the bugs. I love love love love love iTunes but they did something to it for version 7.0 that has turned it to utter crap.
I don’t know enough about software to say what exactly they did, but here is what happens:
It used to be that I could fire up music or a podcast and let it play while I turn on my “Red Ace Squadron” game (and keep the music off within the game) so that I could relax with a little World War I dogfighting action. Now, the podcast speeds up like a record skipping from groove to groove. It happens if I open too many windows in my browser, or have too many applications open, or if I open a webpage in Firefox that has embedded music or video, too. My suspicion is that it’s somehow related to Quicktime being more integated into iTunes than before.
So they took an awesome piece of software and made it suck. Good going, guys. (Remind me to mention this next time my uncle starts harping on us all to get rid of our PCs and join him in the glorious Apple cult.)

The Apple support forum is full of complaints regarding iTunes version 7 so it’s not just a few users. The reports are coming in from PC and Mac users so there is something wrong with the release in general.
It’s the same for me. When theres more then one program running iTunes will slow down to a crawl and the music will become distorted etc. The major problem right now though is that iTunes does not initially recognise my iPod. I have to RESTART my computer with the ipod connected EVERY time i want to put a new podcast/song/file on it. Joyous.
duh,
you caught some spyware around the time you installed IT7,
and you blame it on Itunes.
No problem with iTunes 7 for me on OS X. Love its new features and I hope they keep improving the software.
I think generalized statements that say this software sucks or Windows sucks are not useful and only servers to increase hits to a blog or website.
I have problems with moving downloaded music from other sources onto iTunes 7 and into my ipod nano. I used to just be able to cut/copy the file and PASTE it into the iTunes program and into my ipod. Now the program won’t allow me to this and it is a royal pain to copy music onto my nano…..I should be able to erase iTunes 7 and download 6 again……shouldn’t I???
Please help.
Thanks.
